Your Telegram of 12th was received Diligent enquiry, in the 1st 2nd & 3rd Sub Districts, has been made but so far no soldiers wife or family is willing to leave.

The cause appears to be distrust— there is great dissatisfaction among the men and the women fear that it is only a ruse to get them out of the way. When the months rations are exhausted perhaps some may volunteer. The farming interest is most unsatisfactory and far from well myself. I find it impossible to give personal attention to the various farms.
