after the time designated in my request, and tho hired ordered by Capt Blunt himself, Mr Bradly our own Wagon Master very promptly sent his team which reached the Orphanage at 7. A.M. today. The sickness of Lieut Crawford rendered it necessary for me to attend to the removal in person. By urging the help I succeeded in filling all the baggage and children to the wharf in Portsmouth at 2. P.M. The stock was removed to Whitehead Farm No. 1. The houses were locked up and the keys retained in my possession until, ordered to be given up. The boat returned to this wharf, — took aboard our month's rations for the Children, the two matrons Patten & Doxey and the colored help. All the persons belonging to the institution were sent with the party.
