Mr Dudley, Lt Crawford's clerk was sent to assist the matrons in putting their charge ashore. Miss Colton volunteered to assist them at Point of Rocks until they should be established in their new home. At 3 1/2 P.M. the boat left the wharf on the way to its destination. If there has been any delay, it was caused by the lateness of the arrival of your dispatch. The telegraphic communication between Norfolk & Richmond must be defective. I will furnish in my next dispatch a list of the Orphans sent to Point of Rocks.

I did not see in your dispatch that you desired Mr Ingalls to take charge of your box until the boat left. Mr Dudley took charge of it. He is a worthy young man, I am sorry I did not notice sooner. Was in a hurry to get the boat off as to land the children in good time.
