I have the honor to report that a serious riot took place in this city last night between a large body of citizen, soldiers and freedmen. Besides dangerously wounding several of the freedmen the soldiers and citizens conspired together and destroyed some drinking and  dance houses on Union & Wide Water Streets. Who are responsible for the commencement of these riots it is impossible to tell. They have been brewing for several days. At a circus on Thursday night the soldiers and citizens abused the Colored people and last night these people armed themselves for defense-came down Grandby Street and a collision took
