In obedience to your wishes expressed in several communications I made a visit to the Eastern Shore on Friday returning Saturday. I instituted an investigation into the accounts and general management of the affairs of our Bureau in the two counties in that sub-District which will be continued until something like order comes out of the chaos of the acts, as rendered by officers who have been in charge of property there which by the way I consider us involving the integrity of several to a fearful degree.

The "Dr. Aiken" so highly spoken of by Miss Brown in her Boston letter comes in for a share of the inequity. I visited Townsfield Assylum, Eastville and several other places — decided to locate the Hospital in one of the buildings turned over to us in E. Ville and to fit
