Your Telegram of 12th was received   Diligent enquiry, in the 1st 2nd & 3rd Sub Districts, has been made but so far no soldiers wife or family is willing to leave.

The cause appears to be distrust - there is great dissatisfaction among the men and the women fear that it is only a ruse to get them out of the way.  When the months rations are exhausted perhaps some may volunteer - The farming interest is most unsatisfactory and far from well myself I find it impossible to give personal attention to the various farms.
