Sir:

In compliance with verbal orders received from the Maj Gen'l Comd'g, I have the honor to transmit herewith, the following as a record of the events transpiring in this command for the week ending Aug 3/65.
 
On the afternoon of the 31st ult. Capt Wm Percy of the 4th Mass Cavalry arrived here with his company of sixty three men. Most of these I distributed through the different counties, as patrols, orderlies, etc: assigning at the same time 1st Lieut Carter to the command of Nottoway Co; with this one exception, the counties are all commanded by officers of the 24th.
