Petersburg Oct 26th 1865 Dear Sir excuse me for troubling you I have enclosed this to you by the request of the Adjutant general [[strikethrough]] commanding [[/strikethrough]] of the district of Petersburg this is a matter of some importance about the 1st Oct a man by the name of Fuqua professes to be a government agent to collect all Abandoned Confederate property has taking a wagon from Mr James Prichard which I told him on the 11th May this wagon I bought from the United States sold by E. J. Strong Capt and acting agent at Petersburg the taking of this wagon from Mr Prichard have left him entirely without the means of getting his produce to market. I have Capt Strong Bill of Sale for the above wagon Yours Truly B. F. Childrey Petersburg Va the Chf of the Dept that made the seizure. viz treasury Wm H Male Bvt Maj A.D.C. A.A.A.G.
