fined $15 instead of Fifty dollars the amount imposed upon white persons for Similar Offence by State laws for which See Code of Virginia page 738.  The court were Satisfied from the testimony that the arms So had were in no way necessary to the protection of the persons of the parties but that they were making improper use of them and that as they declared at the time retained the arms in order to consider and ask for instructions as to whether colored persons found improperly using fire arms Should be permitted to retain them or whether the Same Should not be forfeited as a part of the fine.  With reference to So much of the Statement which alleges that the court is emphatically a white man's court it is proper to say that the gentlemen [[strikethrough]] attached [[/strikethrough]] associated with me have performed the different & delicate duties of the position patiently politely and with perfect impartiality and I respectfully Suggest that Such a person Should not be encouraged to make further complaint against a tribunal So constituted
