Col O Brown
Sir,
At length I send this promised supplement to the paper heretofore delivered to you by Mr. A. L. Holladay. It turns out to be as long — or nearly so — as the first missive. This is owing to the fact of its including matters of which I would rather have spoken, than written, could I have had farther conference with you in Lynchburg. My private engagements likewise have not allowed me farther time for compression. The paragraphs, however, which contain its substance, are easily separable from the other. - The appendix contains a brief extract from the paper to which I referred you in Lynchb'g. That paper contains some other matters not wholly irrelevant to the main subject - but which I did not wish to repeat. If you can find the liesure I would ask you to read so much as appears in the No of De Bow for April '56, & which I suppose may be had in Richmond.

Should you wish farther explanation on any point, you can write according to the above address - I
