A Colored man named Nat Russell was arrested on the 29 of July at the new market by one of the gard on duty there belonging to the fourteenth regiment regulars the complante was that he had robed a Lady. After keeping him in prison 3 days he was released no one having appeared to accuse him. When put in the gard took from him  $86.94 and when turned out the gard only gave him $22 of this Russell complaned, where upon the gard drew his sword and bate him through the streets to the camp. The case was brought back to Cap J.B. Hager who refused to enter in the charge of maltreatment
