Captain:
I have the honor to make the following Report, with reference to the sending away of several colored persons, from the Plantation of Mrs. Louisa Allen's. First in regard to the Jurisdiction. The Plantations of Mrs. Allen's are near the dividing line of Goochland and Fluvanna Counties about two miles from Columbia, and eighteen miles from Goochland Court House. On account of the distance from Goochland C.H. Capt Ansell requested me to attend to any cases, that might arise on those or other Plantations near Columbia. It was by his personal request that I did so. - Mrs Allen stated to me with reference to the colored women turned away, that they had become insolant and disorderly and refused to work; that their husbands and children who were able to work, had all left the Plantation, and that these women had done less than one month's work each since the fall of Richmond.
