Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen & Abandoned Lands, Office Supt, Fourth District, State of Virginia. Gordonsville Va. July 20th 1865. Col O. Brown Asst. Commissioner Bureau &c Va Col. I have the honor to report that Capt. Stoops 11th Pa. Cavy. & Asst. Supt. for Fluvanna County - has been relieved. Genl Norris yesterday sent Capt. Childs (his A.A.G.) to Columbia to make an investigation of the charges against this officer, with a view having him brought before a military tribunal, should the facts alleged be sustained - Trusting that my action will meet with your approval I have the Honor to be Col.
