I had organized the affairs of the Bureau in the Counties of Hanover, Louisa, Fluvanna, Goochland, Orange, Albemarle, Greene, Culpepper & Madison - and was directing my attention to the remainder of the District, when some changes made by the military authorities caused all the Asst. Supt., except two (2) to be relieved. The Regiments to which the officers acting as Asst. Supts belonged are ordered to different portions of the State, and with the exception of Capt. Stevens in Hanover & Capt. McMurray in Louisa Counties, I have not an officer left. I shall arrange for the assignment of Asst. Supts for the Counties of Culpepper, Orange, Madison, today - and for the other Counties as fast as proper details can be secured I will report the names of Asst. Superintendents as soon as they are assigned - I have the Honor to be & &
