Mr. Goss applied to me some time since to relieve him of some of his former servants (woman & children) He enters vague complaints- of the dishonest of some, and more direct complaint of the insolence of others - I told him that I [[strikethrough]] thought [[/strikethrough]] would protect him against insolence, & that any case of theft proved upon a servant would be punished - I would not allow Mr. Goss to send away the women and children from his place - He has appealed to you. He is a minister, & consequently entitled to have his statements believed - I have carried out my instructions in not allowing the parties to he driven away.
