A Cold. man by the name of Daniel Tinsly, has been to this office and states that he went to work for Mrs Mildred W. Pollard who lives near Hanover C.H. Hanover Co. on the 15th day of March 1865, and worked for her till the last of July.  He was to have 6 dolls per month when he left her employ in the last of July. She paid him 14 dolls leaving a balance which she gave him a "promise to pay,"  which he has presented and she has refused to pay [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikethrough]] You will investigate this case and if the money is due, collect it and forward to this office.  Enclosed please find Mrs Pollard's "promise to pay."
