Directs the Asst Supt. if he is sattisfied that a certain horse is the property of Ned Wyatt to see that the order for his delivery is obeyed, orders that the Asst. Supt. report his action in the case to Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr.

Respectfully returned throug Hd. Qrs. 4th Dist Va. to Col. O. Brown Asst Comr Va. Ned Wyatt came to me on the 23d of feb last & stated that Peter Massey had a horse which belonged to him (Wyatt) Which horse was given him by a U.S. Soldier & that one Vaughn upon having got possession of the horse sold him to Massey, he asked for an order requiring Massey to deliver him the horse, I gave him an order requiring Massey to deliver him the horse or appear before me on the 27th to show cause why he did not do so, I also told Wyatt that if Massey did not give him the horse to appear against him before me on the 27th of feb that both sides might be heard & the matter investigated. Massey appeared on the day named for investigation and brought witnesses, Wyatt did not appear, I have not seen or heard from him since I gave him the order on 23d of feb, until yesterday when he gave me the enclosed letter, I questioned him as to the cause of his non-appearance on the day set for
