This woman Alice was purchased by Tyler in May 1862 and Since that time up to the time of his death (23d Feb 1866) has been living with him as his wife or mistress. they were never married, She has had three children by him and She testifies that She is now pregnant by him, he promised during his lifetime to give her a deed of the Farm he lived upon but never gave it, Tyler died Suddenly & left no will his estate is advertised for Sale, She States that Tylers heirs or relatives have not told her to leave the place. but if the Farm is Sold She cannot live on it. This is only her Statement, I wished to Examine Tylers relatives but She did not wish me to do So, as She thought She could make better terms with them if, she concealed her action in the matter. Her Statement about her living with Tyler & having children by him is true as it is a notorious fact
