Captain,
Your reply of the 1st inst. to my communication of the 25th ult. has this day been received.

I shall go to the War Department at once and use what influence I can to obtain the order to report to you for duty.  Gov. Andrew is here and will help me, I think.  If successful I am ready for duty anywhere tho' I should much prefer an assignment to some work in this vicinity as I am perfectly acquainted with the country and people hereabouts.
