Captn F. M. Baker
Comdg Co 'E', 16th N.Y. V. Cavy, Vienna Va

Sir

I beg to report the injustice done me by my Superior Officer, Captn Geo. A. Armes Freedmens Bureau, who took my horse from the Stables at Fairfax C.H. on the morning of the 3rd of August 65 without any permission from me, put him in a Buggy and drove him to Washington D.C. and did not return untill the night of the 4th of August 65 having him away with the Buggy for two days, I have reported this to you in order that I may get redress, for an injustice done me, the like of which I never knew of being done to a Cavalry Solider before, This horse I have had a longtime as you well know, and have allways taken good care of him, and now to be treated in this manner by Captn Armes, is too much for me to bear trusting you will give this your earliest attention, and forward this to Major Genl Howard Freedmens Bureau.

I am
Sir
Your Most Obed't Servant
Henry Mayger
Corpl Co "E". 16th N.Y. V. Cavalry
