nominal rent of sixty dollars per month by permission of Maj Gen Howard

Sixth - The McVeigh house on the corner of St Asaph & Cameron Sts just turned over to us by the U.S. Marshal occupied by tenants placed there by the Marshal at Forty dollars per month

The payments of these rents is somewhat irregular depending upon the fullness or scarcity of funds among the Freedmen

For July last they amounted to near Two hundred dollars a good portion of it back rents for May and June collected by an extra effort on our part.  Fifty three dollars of this was paid over to Capt Church A.Q.M. on the staff of Brig Gen Slough, Mil. Gov. Dist. of Alexandria, but as an offset to that Gen Wells (to whom Capt Church turned over his funds) paid for the month of July
