Very many of the Citizens wish to know if there is to be an Agent or Supt. sent here soon, and I think my self that one is sadly needed, to rectify some of the acts of oppression here done

For instance one Nancy Bings has turned off an old woman over ninety (90) and a crippled man, whose support now devolves upon one woman, who has several children besides the cripple and whose husband left at the outbreak of the War and has not been heard from since. Of course the load thus laid upon her is very heavy, and she is scarcely able to get along.

At an other place I found a man who had been obliged to keep his bed for eleven (11) weeks, on account of a wound received from one Harnly, (one of the Chivalry of the City.

Many of the Colored People are still living with their Former Owners [[strikethrough]] with [[/strikethrough]] with no arrangements as regards wages.
