Alexandria Va Aug 26th 1865 Col Brown I see by the Richmond Republic an advertisement of confiscated lands taken possession of by the Bureau, and among them the lands in Loudon Fairfax & Prince William counties. Permit me to suggest that if it can be done, the printing patronage of this portion of the state could not be more worthily bestowed than upon the [[strikethrough]] Alexandria [[/strikethrough]] Virginia State Journal of this city. The paper is radically loyal and in favor of all those measures in which the friends of the Freedmen are supposed to feel deeply interested, and maintains its position as a matter of principle and against the prevailing tide here By this mail I send a copy Yours very truly James J. Ferree
