I have the honor to enclose reports required for month of July 1865 - 
These reports have been delayed in consequence of absence occasioned by the organization of the district.
Hereafter they will be promptly rendered.
As soon as I can obtain the records of issues of destitute rations by the different Assistant provost marshals in past months in the counties composing this district a full report of them will be furnished you. 
The breakage of Rail Road has prevented my getting reports from the Danville schools.  I transmit reports of schools here and will send the others when received by myself.  I have sent Chaplain Moses Smith 8th Conn Vols as assist. Superintendent of Pittsylvania. Co. and with full discretions as to organization of the lower counties of my district.  But as yet have had no report from him
In organizing the upper portion of district I went in person
