Superintendents Office Lynchburg, Va Sept 7th 1865 Col O. Brown Assist Commissioner Richmond Va Colonel A negro man was brutally murdered on last Monday, about five miles from here by parties unknown. He was not identified. The murderers robbed and stripped his body excepting pants and stockings. I [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] sent one of my best men to investigate and if possible find clue to murderers.
