Bureau R.F. & A.L.
Richmond Sept 25, 1865

Capt. C.B. Wilder
Supt. 9th District

Captain

It is reported here by Mr. Young on whose farm Mr. Hunt's saw mill was located that Mr. Hunt cut and carried away from his place & others in the vicinity from 2000 to 3000 cords of wood. There was no authority for this in the saw mill contract and none has been given from these Head Quarters. Col Brown directs that you cause an investigation to be made at once into the transaction and if the facts are as represented, cause Mr. Hunt to pay to the Bureau the value of the wood deducting the necessary expense of cutting &c.
