Respected Friend
I have thy communication of yesterday date and suppose in refers to the farms of Sam'. White. Dr. F. Power and Stafford G Cook- The two former men are out of my reach for a personal interview I will write to them immediately. At the request of our Association I called on Stafford G Cook on the 18th Inst with the same object and view and with similar proffered inducements as those contained as thy favor just now to hand- his mind seemed made up so determindly that I do not think a second interview would tend to any advantage, if thee wish me again to see him please say so and I will attend to it. The result of our conversation was that at present he would not let his land, at Acretown, should he obtain possession of it for more than 1 year leases to the color'd people at the rate of $8 for occupancy, as arranged at present, these occupancies are mostly 1 1/4 acre lots, same more-
