or he would expect higher rate, he was not willing they should cut wood, unless under special arrangement- we had much to talk about the houses now erected numbering about 300 including those on the opposite side of the Telegraph Road to Acretown side called Stumptown- he claims a right to these houses as being cut from his wood. but left that subject and fire wood open for further discussion.

The appropriation of some land on which the Negroes can securely settle is now a desideratum of the first importance in this neighborhood- our neighbor E.C. Darlington has about 150 houses and families on his farm, all of whom he is desirous of getting rid of and has given notice to quit
