Dear Sir
I have the honor of saying that things move here, as well as with you, in a right direction. [[strikethrough]] The [[/strikethrough]] Genl Howard is more than satisfied with what is being done in Richmond, Norfolk &c. I have imparted all as you directed.

Mr Percy has doubtless asked, in my name, for some Qr master furniture to be stood at our disposal for use of Banks & a few pupils [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] of a "business school". The plan of which I mentioned, & wh, you approved preparing [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]] advanced Col'd youth for such plans as we may hereafter call them to, I want the Comr of Va. to become the patron of this thing. The Genl appears & I intend to instruct whole hearted N.Va. merchants in it. Can you let Mr. P. have say 10 or 15 desks with apparatus &c ie, if the Govt have asked to send them as I understand is true from Mr. Jackson, & very much oblige yours &c for the coming time.

J. W. Alvord. Supt &c
