The address, as recd by Mr Van Fleet was pointed and pungent- It was prepared by him. His remarks to the audience were cautious—

The spirit which characterized the meeting was manly. It was apparent that the people were in need of information concerning the intent, scope and workings of the Bureau  But I deemed it not the most favorable time to enlighten them - and took no part in the proceedings beyond what I have already indicated—
