I met Capt Wilder last night as he was taking the Boat for the, Eastern Shore Maryland he said he had just received a letter from judge Webster stating that he is in Norfolk, & wished if possible that I would go over & see you he is very anxious to see you had written & telegraphed to you at Richmond but was afraid you would not get either in season he wished me to say to you that he is ordered to Maryland to investigate about some difficulty there among the negroes & whites & report, after which he is ordered to report to you, for duty, he has had 2 or 3 messages from you that you were anxious to see
