& then sent home minus the Horse a captain in the Regiment was trying to sell the Horse for 100 dollars, a coloured man wanted to go to Baltimore with an aunt for medical treatment (for her) his master would not let him he had agreed to work for his master for 5cts five cents a day. he finally started with his aunt unbeknown to his master paid his fare $6.00 to Baltimore his Master soon found he had gone intercepted him had him arrested at one of the Stopping places on the River some 20 miles or more down from Fredericksburgh put him at work under a guard was at work when my informant left with a promise that he should be sent back to his Master Several other cases of ill treatment were told me. My informants are 4 men belonging to the Regiment very reliable men one a peacher the were detailed to me more than a year ago at Yorktown they went to the Regiment a few days
