ago to be mustered out they say the business of the Regiment deems to be hunting Negroes & robing & punishing them. I call your attention to this because I believe you want to know of all such abuses, particularly in places where they are remote from you & where there is no superintendent it is better for you to know it & correct the evils before they get published to the world. I wrote to Capt Flagg for a situation as Supt he very kindly says he would like to employ old & experienced men but cannot employ citizens as there is no way to pay them hoping you will excuse the length of this letter but approve I am you obedient servant.
