Williamsburg, Va Aug. 21st 1865.

Col. O. Brown.
Freedmans' Bureau,
Richmond Va

Colonel:
I respectfully represent that I left my farm in James City Co. Va in Oct. 1862 and with my family moved to Delaware, and while in that place a certain portable sawmill was removed from my farm of which I was two-thirds legal owner and had an equitable term upon the other one third.

Said saw mill is at present at Mulberry Island in Charge of the Freedmans' Bureau.

I respectfully request that it may be returned to me.

Very respectfully,
Your obedient servant,
Lewis Ellison
