I have the honor to make the following report on the complaints of Elizabeth A Harris (cold) of this place,

It appears that on or about the 17th of November last as colord man named Tom in the employ of a Mr Shooter was returning from market he was atacked about two miles from Manchester by two higwaymen. 

he Tom was was shot twice but not disabled for one of the Robbers alarmed by something fled leaving his confederate in the hands of Tom who beat him severely and left him for dead. 

proceeding on his way home he (Tom) met a white man to whom he related the circumstance and both returned to the spot where the attemped Robbery took place and found the man who Tom had left for dead had in some way been removed.
