The last perchister [[purchaser]] Mr Pate he now ocupies the place & he is now cutting timber such as is there the timber there is seder [[cedar]] post white oak & pine logs he is halling [[hauling]] every day to Richmond for building & hope that will be perticular Notice for no one is the to se what is going on Colonel I hope that you wil use every efford to Let us have our place back again we now look on you all together

States that Thomas Howlett was their master and father, and died July 9" 1856 and willed his Estate to his servants,

Benj Hatcher was administrator and has cut the timber from the farm (containing 262 acres), and says that he has deposited the money in Confederate stocks. and that he cannot get it for them, &c &c
