Capt. With reference to the case of Howletts Legatees vs Howletts Executors we have the honor to submit the following report

The papers referred to us do not present any question for our adjudication

We infer that some of the plaintiffs apprehend that injustice has been and may be done them, & that they desire [[strikethrough]] ordrs [[/strikethrough]] and especially to raise the Question as to who shall sustain the loss of the Confederate Bonds in which the proceeds of the Sale of the lands were invested. It appears from the Statement of Mr McRae that he as the counsel for the plaintiffs took for their benefit an assignment of Alvis' Bonds, the payment of which were Secured by deed of trust on the land; and that he instituted a Suit in the Circuit Court of the county of Chesterfield, for the
