Your favor was this day received. I am much obliged for your kindness, and I need not say that if ever I can repay it, I will do so-

I have written home, and expect letters from Summers, Rice and Genl. Sheply. They will probably be directed to Genl. Howard- I also enclose a number of letters which may prove of benefit. If you think they will do any good please forward them- They are 1st from Capt. Prekins A.Q.M, Capt Clark A.Q.M, Col. Farnsworth Chief Q.M, and one from each of the Regiments stationed at Yorktown while I was there, and signed by all the field and staff officers- They may prove of some service- We are
