L'Ouverture Hospital
Alexandria Va. January 27th 1866.

The bearer William Rector - (Colored) - applied to me in the afternoon of January 25th 1866, representing that he had been shot by some one near Warrenton Station Va. and that with his own gun which had wrested from by two men- I made a careful examination of the case, and found that a shot had been lodged in the back of the neck, 1 1/2 inches to the right of the medial line- one half way down the back- one in the right thigh and two in the middle finger of the right hand. Those in the finger and the one in the back- I extracted,- but as the one in the neck and in the back- had penetrated to considerable depth and being small, I regard it prudent to allow them to remain for the present.-These shot were what are known as Duck shot I believe-

There is to-day some sapparation about the shot in the neck, and, quite likely it can be removed in a few days-
