Col: O. Brown,
Sup'dt &c. &c.
Richmond, Va.

I have the honor to inform you, that, as you told me I would, I have found Lt. Keetley a perfect gentleman & staunch friend. I made an attack on the enemy when I was protected by the Lt. and through his kind intercession I am still occupying the same house & same shop.

I never shall be able to repay your & his kindness, and while all my people, regret, with myself, his removal, we can but pray that through your generous influence he may be restored, or. if that cannot be, we sincerely trust his place may be filled by one whose generous qualities will extend to us the same protection he accorded us.

Very Respectfully Your obt Servt
