The bearer Mr. Paul J. Caperton is one of our most stable and upright colored citizens.

He will make known to you the object of his visit which as I learn, is to discuss the whereabouts of the Brother and Two Sisters of his wife, who are detained unlawfully by their former Alleged Master, who lives or detains them somewhere in the neighborhood of Lynchburg. Any kindness You can do Mr. Caperton, will be a kindness done to a very worthy Gentleman, who goes upon the very humane and merciful errand and will be duly appealed by him, as also by
