Dear Sir

I called at your office on the 4th Sept. to engage a girl. colored. about 12 to 14 year old. there was none there of that age if my recollection serves me you suggested the idea of sending one to me. I want the girl to take care of two little children in the family of a sister of mine living near Peekskill on the Hudson River. it will make a good home for a girl and suitable compensation will be paid. I would like you to select a girl dark & bright of good habits one that has lived with a good family

If you find such a girl please send her by boat to N.Y. & I will pay charges on her arrival & remit your bill for trouble in the premises

I remain Yours truly
A.N. Lancaster
