A few weeks after I received an Order from the Provost to send the Key which I did and my safe was taken to F Munroe.  A few days after I was sent for to go down to Old Point to open the safe and you gave the order for Transportation to do so.  The whole matter emanated from your office at the suggestion of Mr Tukey who ferreted out this safe and referred me to you in all cases where he applied his power over me.
   
The matter is a plain one. My safe was taken and carried to the Fort.  I saw it there and now I want it or the value thereof.  You can order its return or place me in a position
