Norfolk Va August 2d /65

Colonel
   Prof N.B. Webster makes application for the returning to his possession of "School House" belonging to him situated in Portsmouth Va. now occupied as freedman School.
   His status of the Prof. is as follows.  He has devoted his life to Educational advancement, he is a Vermonter, has been many years resident here plying his proffession. so soon as he could get away from the Entaglements of the Rebellion he went to Ottawa C.W. & opened a Collegiate School there untill such time as he could peacefully return here, which he now does upon the promise made by Genl Gordon that there would be no hinderance [[strikethrough]]of [[/strikethrough]] against his taking his School House and opening the same.  His Building
