Dear Sir haveing observed with interest the working of your freedmens department and takeing great interest in its success I have been a close observer of the men appointed to perform its duties and I desire to say that I do not believe there has been that care taken in this plase that should be by those in charge. Capt Bohonon in charge of the district adjoining us has his Hd quarters in this plase and is one of the most efficient men I have ever seen in behalf of the freedmen, and he is most of his time here and I believe would be happy to have this plase detached from the Gordonsvill district and attached to his I do not believe that it would be increaseing his labours to more than he could do for he now takes a lively interest in the schools and every thing that looks to the good of the freedmen, we therefore pray you that if not in conflict with your arrangements and better judgement that you will give him charge of the plase and the County of Spotsvaina [[Spotsylvania]] inclusive
Respfuly Yours
