Circular }
No 10 }

The attention of Officers and Agents of this Bureau is directed to the imperfect character of their School Reports. While the Free Schools supported by Northern charities, and which are under the immediate supervision of the Bureau, are reported with reasonable promptness and accuracy, many Private Schools are not reported at all. It may be impracticable to make regular reports of the latter upon Bureau Blanks, but local Bureau Officers must report all such schools, together with the number of teachers and pupils.

The control of all subjects relating to the Freedmen being committed to this Bureau, it is clearly the duty of its Officers to obtain all facts connected with the important subject of education.
