II. Lt. Col. John F Marsh 24th Regt. V.R.C. having in accordance with Special Orders No 181 Hd. Qrs. Dept of Washington July 27th 1865 reported to this Bureau, is hereby assigned as Superintendent of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands for 5th District of Virginia with Head Qrs. at Alexandria Va., whither he will proceed without delay and assume charge of his District, reporting to Col. O. Brown Asst. Commissioner at Richmond Va. as also to the Commissioner of the Bureau in cases that require prompt action.

As soon as he has his business well arranged, & can leave it in the hands of a competent and reliable officer. Lt. Col. Marsh will be permitted to avail himself of a leave of absence for ten (10) days granted him by
