Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
OFFICE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER, STATE OF VIRGINIA,
Richmond, Va., July 30th 1866.

Circular.

A ward for the treatment of insane, indigent Freedmen in the state of Virginia, has been established in the Howard Grove Hospital at Richmond Va.

The Superintendents of the various districts of the State, will direct the Superintendents of Sub-Districts to send through their Office, applications for admission of Indigent insane Freedmen to this Hospital.

The accommodations are limited, and only such as require restraint, and who cannot on that account be provided for at their homes, or in District Hospitals with safety to others will be recieved in this Asylum.

Applications for admission should give the certificates of a Medical Officer of the Bureau or some responsible Medical Practitioner that this case comes under the conditions above stated. The name of the person should be given in full, and a request made for transportation of patient and attendant.
