Freedmen,- All such accounts must be rejected.

Where there is no Medical Officer of the Bureau within reach; Superintendents of Districts and sub-Districts are authorized to send all cases of indigent sick Freedmen where humanity requires aid, to the nearest Hospital Bureau &c. for admission, provided they can give transportation; the fact of sending them being immediately reported to this Office, with the circumstances of the case, rendering the action necessary. If pressing cases occur so far from Hospital that the superintendents cannot furnish transportation, they will be reported to this Office, with a request for admission in Hospital (naming the nearest Hospital) and request for transportation. Which in all proper cases will be promptly furnished.
