Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and A. Lands
Office Chief Med. Officer State Va.
Richmond Va. June 2d 1866.

Circular.

Surgeons in charge of Hospitals, Bureau R. F. and A Lands, State of Va. will please report to me as promptly as possible, as follows viz:-
Name of each patient in Hospital, age and sex. Date of reception in Hospital,- sent to Hospital from where. Former home before the war. Disease. Present condition, Prospect of recovery. Whether now under treatment. if not how long since. 
They will specially report by name those who are not suffering from Disease requiring Hospital treatment,- but retained on account of old age or debility,- and if debility, its duration and prospect.

If there are any patients in Hospital who are able to be self supporting and are still retained, altho not under contract, their names will be reported, also, the length of time they have been able to support themselves, and the reason of their detention, as well as the duties they are discharging

Medical Officers having Small Pox wards in charge will state the present probability in regard to the time when the small pox ward can be closed.
